Wildlife for Everyone Foundation Announces Donation of Land for State Games Lands 93 in Somerset County

STATE COLLEGE (April 16, 2007) Russ Schleiden, Chairman of the Board of the Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation, announced that Waste Management, Morrisville, has generously donated 30 acres in Shade Township, Somerset County to the Foundation. This important wetlands will become part of State Game Lands 93, adjacent to the Flight 93 Memorial, and will serve to protect land that was in the flight path of that heroic September 11 plane crash.

Jim Gebicki, Community Relations, and Darrell Klink, Shade Landfill Manager, both with Waste Management, were on hand at the recent Wildlife for Everyone Foundation meeting in State College to present the land to the Foundation Board. Chairman Schleiden "is very excited about this cooperative conservation effort with Waste Management on such a prime piece of property. This land donation will augment the Foundation’s mission to increase wildlife habitat."

Eventually, this land will be turned over to the PA Game Commission to become part of the State Game Lands 93, which now is 300 acres in size. These public lands serve as critical habitat for wildlife, provide hunting, and protect the viewscape of the Flight 93 National Memorial. Matt Hough, Southwest Regional Director of the PA Game Commission is "very pleased that Waste Management entrusted the Wildlife for Everyone Foundation with this land, as it provides critical habitat for wildlife. I look forward for working with Waste Management and the Foundation in the future to try to further expand the game lands," Hough stated.

The Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation was established in 2004 to provide permanent private support for wildlife habitat enhancement, wildlife research and education, land preservation, and for the establishment of a Wildlife Research and Education Center. More information about the Foundation’s projects can be found at www.wildlifeforeveryone.org.
