Ben Woods named to Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation Board of Directors

STATE COLLEGE - Ben Woods, Waste Management's General Manager of Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation.

Woods was selected to the board based on his leadership skills, corporate involvement and volunteerism in his community. As general manager for Waste Management, Woods is responsible for providing executive oversight of 13 waste and recycling collection/transfer facilities and 12 post collection locations. He has attended and been involved in numerous seminars and workshops through out his career that include: safety, finance, sales, human resources and business management.

“Together with my employees, I work to provide a safe and healthy workplace and be a good steward of the environment. A high level of commitment to these ideals is evidenced by the fact that Waste Management's landfills provide more than 17,000 acres of protected habitat for wildlife and 15 are certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council,” said Woods. “With my business experience and dedication to the environment I hope to make a meaningful contribution to the foundation's board.”

Woods earned a BA degree in Business Administration from Bethany College in West Virginia. His volunteer commitments include serving as President of the Athletic Association, coaching basketball at JFK Elementary School in Washington, Pennsylvania, treasurer of Shortcreek Sportsman's Club, and coaching a girls softball team. He loves the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been a season ticket holder since he was 7 years old.

Woods and his wife of 20 years, Janice, have an eight year old daughter, Zoe.

The Wildlife for Everyone Endowment Foundation was established in 2004 to provide permanent private support for wildlife habitat enhancement, wildlife research and education, land preservation, and for the establishment of a Wildlife Research and Education Center.
